Auditions

Baltimore's Marching Ravens hold auditions every Wednesday night throughout the year and are currently seeking new members for openings in all instrumentation as well as Flagline, Color Guard and Equipment Crew. Especially critical areas at the moment are:

  • Baritones
  • Trombones
  • Mellophones
  • Sousaphones
  • Trumpets
  • Equipment Crew

Auditions for musicians are typically held prior to and during the break at each Wednesday night rehearsal. The audition process consists of a brief display of musical ability (applicant should have some sort of prepared piece to play...no holds barred on style of audition piece) as well as a review / test of the applicant's marching ability (primarily to determine how much additional instruction one might need).

Auditions for Flagline are held during practice and requires the following:

  • If you have a practice flag, you will need to make up a short 32 count twirling moves, no tosses.
  • If you do not have a practice flag, when you attend rehearsal, we will assign a practice flag to you which is property of the Baltimore Ravens organization on loan to you. You will return the next week to perform your 32 count twirling routine.
  • You will have to be able to march and twirl.
  • For the last part of your audition, you will be taught a 32 count routine, which you need to know by the end of the night.
